-“Who taught you to hate the texture of your hair? Who taught you to hate the color of your skin, to such extent that you bleach to get like the white man? Who taught you to hate the shape of your nose, and the shape of your lips? Who taught you to hate yourself, from the top of your head to the soles of your feet?
Who taught you to hate your own kind—who taught you to hate the race that you belong to, so much so that you don’t wanna be around each other? No, before you come around asking Mr. Muhammed does he teach hate, you should ask yourself: who taught you to hate being what God gave you?”-Malcolm X

and you’re all like:
and they’re all like:
and you’re all like:
And then they’re all like:
and you ask them again:
and they see that it’s 9 minutes long:
and then they reblog a 40 minute long hamza yusuf lecture and say it’s the best thing…
This is the kind of BS that ends up confusing the hell out of young impressionable muslims. You do not know the meaning of Sufism mate. Sufism is NOT a sect of Islam IT IS A SCIENCE. That means you can be a Sunni and Sufi simultaneously, they are NOT antithetical. Ever heard of Sunni Sufism?
Also the claim that Qasida Burda contains shirk is nonsense: http://spa.qibla.com/issue_view.asp?HD=7&ID=11961&CATE=108
Seriously get off your high horse.

Racism or Colorism?
Growing up in Norway and being of a mixed background [Norwagian/Pakistani] i never really had an issue with my skin tone but its a huge problem among South Asian community. I found this image few weeks ago of Pakistani model Sunita, who is photoshoped to a point where you cant even recognize her. My mom claims this form of colorism is only limited to media not reality but i doubt it because i see how desi’s discriminate against each other based on skin tone and use it as an insult, especially teenagers.
Dark skin is just as beautiful as pale skin! but young desi girls & boys wont realize that when they are constantly shown lighter skin to be more beautiful than dark skin. If god does not see anything wrong with dark skin then why should we?

Once, I was supposed to close a show with a 3-year-old kid and we both had matching outfits. During rehearsal, everything went as planned, but on the day of the show he started crying halfway down the runway, so in my head I thought, “What am I supposed to do?!” I ended up picking him up and I carried him to the end of the runway. This was funny only after the fact.

Yall we really need to protest this shit foreal. This is actually really really racist. This Anglo-Saxxon, Blonde Haired Blue eyed, Australian is going to play a Middle Eastern person. A Middle Eastern folk hero!! There are plenty of great Middle Eastern actors out there that would be perfect for the role. There needs to be some kind of backlash from this. This is Hollywood white washing the history of the Persia. There are no people in that part of the world that look like Liam Hemsworth. If he gets to play Ali Babba, then the next King Arthur better be Idris Elba, Abraham Lincoln should be played by Will Smith, and the next Jesus should be played by Jackie Chan. Sometimes I really hate you Hollywood.
